Cedar Hill Race Festival
The first big event on the North Texas racing calendar is the Cedar Hill Race Festival, a weekend full of different racing events. Grant, Jessy, and Keith all participated in multiple events throughout the weekend. Saturday began with the hill climb time trial, a 4+ minute battle against a long, steep hill. Jessy finished 2nd in the Men’s 4/5 category, and Keith finished 1st in the Men’s 3/4 category!
Later on Saturday, all three of our racers started the Men’s 4/5 road race, 13 laps on a closed course with steep climbs and technical descents. The race was mostly quiet until the final lap, when Keith attacked uphill, splitting the group. Keith finished 3rd in the small group of riders that stayed at the front. Jessy finished 28th and Grant finished 60th out of 73 total starters.
Grant and Keith both started the Men’s 4/5 race on Sunday, in which the racers ride the same course as Saturday, but in the opposite direction. Again, the race was mostly quiet until the second-to-last lap when Keith attacked uphill again, this time only taking one other rider with him. The two stayed away from the chasing group until just after the final turn. The race finished in a bunch sprint. Keith finished 11th, and Grant finished 49th out of 72 total starters. Great job, everyone!
